The Real Mary Magdalene

The Real Mary Magdalene

The Lost Gospels

The Lost Gospels

Aired: March 15, 2008 on BBC 2

Anglican
priest Peter Owen Jones explores the huge number of ancient Christian
texts that didn't make it into the New Testament. Shocking and
challenging, these were works in which Jesus didn't die, took revenge
on his enemies and kissed Mary Magdalene on the mouth. Pete travels
through Egypt and the former Roman Empire looking at the evidence of a
Christian world very different to the one we know, and finds over
seventy gospels, acts, letters and apocalypses all circulating in the
early Church

Decoding The Past - The Bible Code - Predicting Armageddon

There are those who believe that the Old Testament is filled with predictions. If one knows where to look, and how, there are references to figures like Hitler, Napoleon and Einstein, and events including the Second World War and the attacks of 9/11. And, of course, there are signs of what the future holds. The Bible Code analyzes this controversial theory with the help of leading lights on both sides of the issue. Code researchers like Roy A. Reingold tell how the ancient code works, and what it says, while skeptics from top institutions like MIT and CalTech weigh in on the other side of the issue, though not everyone in academia believes that the code must be false. Take a balanced look at the surprising theory that holds that, in some ways, the scriptures are the world's first computer program.

Terry Jones' Barbarians - Written by Terry Jones & Alan Ereira

So you think you know everything about the Romans? They gave us sophisticated road systems, chariots and the modern-day calendar. And of course they had to contend with barbarian hordes who continually threatened the peace, safety and prosperity of their Empire. Didn't they?

Terry Jones' Barbarians takes a completely fresh approach to Roman history. Not only does it offer us the chance to see the Romans from a non-Roman perspective, it also reveals that most of the people written off by the Romans as uncivilized, savage and barbaric were in fact organized, motivated and intelligent groups of people, with no intentions of overthrowing Rome and plundering its Empire.

In his new book and the accompanying four-part BBC Two television series Terry Jones argues that we have been sold a false history of Rome that has twisted our entire understanding of our own history. Terry asks what did the Romans ever do for us?

This is the story of Roman history as seen by the Britons, Gauls, Germans, Greeks, Persians and Africans. The Vandals didn't vandalize - the Romans did. The Goths didn't sack Rome - the Romans did. Attila the Hun didn't go to Constantinople to destroy it, but because the Emperor's daughter wanted to marry him. And far from civilizing the societies they conquered the Romans often destroyed much of what they found.

Terry Jones travels round the geography of the Roman Empire and through 700 years of history - bringing wit, irreverence, passion and the very latest scholarship to transform our view of the legacy of the Roman Empire and the creation of the modern world.

Welcome to history from a different point of view...

"A Hindu should be a firm Hindu, a Muslim should be a firm Muslim, and a Sikh should be a firm Sikh" - Baba Jarnail Singh Jee Bhinderanwale

A documentary aired on the history channel about the events that took place in 1984, in Punjab. This was when Indian government killed thousands of innocent people to destroy the Sikh spirit, and sacrilegiously stormed the most famous shrine of the Sikhs, without obeying any rules of respect or regard. Sikhism is a religion distinct from both Hinduism and Islam. Sikhs believe in One God.
The government intentionally planned the attack on the Shaheedi Divas of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, a religious holiday of the Sikhs, when pilgrims would be packed in the temple. 40 other Gurdwaras (Sikh temples) were also attacked on that day.

Baba Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was situated in the Darbar Sahib Complex because he was conducting a 'Dharam Yudh Morcha' a procession for more rights for Sikhs and autonomy for Punjab and other states in India. Historically all 'Morchas' are done from a Darbar Sahib, and carrying weapons is part of the Sikh religion for defense. Indira Gandhi resented Sikh leaders for their opposition to her dictorial rule on the nation. She then declared dictorial rule on the state of Punjab by imposing government rule and media censorship. The carnage following the justice given to Indira Gandhi was a state-sponsored genocide, which was instigated by politicians. No justice has been given to those 1984 victims.

History of Darbar Sahib Attacks: Ahmed Shah Abdali, Massa Ranghar, General Dyer, (Governor O'Dwer), and Indira Gandhi have all been oppressors who have attacked the holy city of Amritsar. These have all been an attack on the spirit of the people. Oppressors have never been spared when attacking this holy city, and they have always been fought against. History repeated itself when Indira Gandhi was given justice by her own bodyguards, the same way Massa Ranghar was given justice by Bhai Mehtab Singh.

"I have never initiated any attack with my tongue, or my pen, or with my sword. I only answer back or retaliate." Baba Jarnail Singh ji Bhindranwale.

Jewish Bible/Old Testament History

1) Mysteries of the Garden of Eden - 44:43 - Dec 30, 2008
Metaphor, myth, or reality? Traditions of a 'paradise lost' are surprisingly common and consistent across many cultures. Explore the legend and learn if this marvelous place can be pinpointed. "The truth" is, many cultures share an Eden-like tradition and even agree on the details. Illuminating scholarship traces the origins of this lasting legend. Ancient texts and cutting-edge satellite imagery point the way to "the truth". Paradise on Earth: did it exist? Can it be found today? The History Channel devotes its authoritative resources to exploring these compelling questions. The Bible says Eden was located east of Israel where four rivers meet: the Tigris and Euphrates and the Pison and Gihon. The latter two have long been considered mythical; however, recent satellite photography suggests these rivers existed in Iraq. Another theory places Eden's location beneath the Black Sea. Do texts other than the Bible reinforce the idea of Eden? Both the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh and Ancient Greek texts speak of a 'paradise lost.' Sift through the evidence to decode an age-old mystery about how paradise was lost, and where it might be found. Whether it was an actual place, or simply a compelling metaphor, the Garden of Eden remains a touchstone element of Western culture, and this in-depth exploration of its mysteries provides a marvelous, informative viewing experience.

Knights Templar History

Decoding the Past: The Templar Code Part 1

A two part History Channel documentary about the mystic Knights Templar. Knights Templar are also well known from the best seller book Da Vinci Code. "For nearly two centuries, the Knights Templar were the most powerful order in the Medieval world, a fearsome and unstoppable Crusader militia. Then came accusations of unspeakable crimes. Who were the Templars, really? How did they become so powerful, so fast, and why did they fall just as quickly? Evidence hints that the Templars excavated under Jerusalem's Temple of Solomon. What did they find there? Was it, as The Da Vinci Code suggests, the true identity of the holy grail, the bloodline of Christ? Or an unimaginable treasure, documented in the Dead Sea Scrolls, buried a thousand years before the birth of Christ? This hour explores where the Templars came from, how they lived, trained, fought and became a Medieval world power, and the suspicious circumstances behind their sudden downfall."

Technology and Privacy

1) Suspect Nation
Since Tony Blair's New Labour government came to power in 1997, the UK civil liberties landscape has changed dramatically. ASBOs were introduced by Section 1 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and first used in 1999. The right to remain silent is no longer universal. Our right to privacy, free from interception of communications has been severely curtailed. The ability to travel without surveillance (or those details of our journeys being retained) has disappeared. Indeed, as Henry Porter (the Observer journalist famous for his recent email clash with Tony Blair over the paring down of civil liberties) reveals in this unsettling film, our movements are being watched, and recorded, more than ever before

On Islam

1)Channel 4 The Seven Wonders of the Muslim World

The Grand Mosque in Mecca is the largest mosque in the world. At its centre is the Kaaba, a cubic building covered in a gold-embroidered black cloth towards which Muslims turn as they pray. Every year, millions of people perform the Hajj – the pilgrimage during the 12th month of the Islamic year – and many others make the pilgrimage at other times of year, which is called the Umrah. 2. The Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, Islam’s third holiest city is situated next to the Dome of the Rock. This iconic golden dome can be seen from all over Jerusalem. Al-Aqsa, dates from the late 7th century, making it one of the oldest mosques in the world. 3. The Alhambra in Granada, Spain, which dates from the 13th century, was designed by Muslim architects and built by the Muslim rulers of El Andaluz, or Andalucia. It was inspired by Qur’anic descriptions of paradise as an oasis, with trees, fountains and buildings. 4. The Blue Mosque in Istanbul, lined with blue tiles and reflecting the Byzantine church architecture of 400 years ago, expresses the sumptuousness of the Ottoman Empire and represents the zenith of Muslim architecture. 5. The Great Mosque of Djenne in Mali is the tallest mud-built mosque in the world. Its thick walls and many roof supports make it dark and simple inside. Every Friday, people in this huge but poor country come into the city to pray here. 6. The Imam Mosque in Esfahan, Iran, is magnificent in its design and decoration. Built in the 16th and 17th centuries, it was a stunning statement of Persian imperial power, and incorporates a pool, colleges and communal space, as well as the mosque itself. 7. The Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan was built in 1673 and is a wonderful example of Mughal architecture. The building’s openness is in line with the Islam of the Indian subcontinent, which has traditionally been accommodating to all sects.

2) Divorce Sharia Style

Aired: February 3, 2007 This Channel
4 program looks at Britain’s busiest Sharia council to see what this Muslim
legal institution offers couples in conflict and to ask whether religious laws
should be recognized by the secular British legal system. In some countries
where the majority of people are Muslims, family laws are based on Muslim laws –
Sharia. According to a 2006 poll in Britain, 40% of Muslims now want Sharia to
be a part of British law in predominantly Muslim areas. More documentaries at:

Banned From The Bible

The Gospel of Judas
This documentary explains why the Gospel of Judas as not included in the canonized Bible.

Gospel of Judas

Interview with Professor Marvin Meyer on CNN about the Gospel of Judas, which was the subject of a TV special on the National Geographic channel Sunday, April 8, 2006 and the cover story on the magazine that week. Marvin Meyer is known for Gnosticism and for his participation in the Jesus Seminar. His latest effort to dilute Christianity and lead people down a false path is the Gospel of Judas.

The Gospel of Judas has been thoroughly debunked and in fact says the opposite of what it's apologists claimed
